What to look forward to: A Writing Update

I’ve been a busy bee writing and it’s coming along slowly but surely. I do have some updates and things that you all can look forward to:

This Saturday July 14th at 10 am: Womanthology Signing at the Acme Superstore on 434 in Longwood, FL.

Next week July 16th-20th Talking Comics  will have a Woman in Comics Week. Everyday I’ll post an interview with a lady in comics. I’ll have an interview from Nicole Sixx and four other ladies! I’ll also be posting each day a Character Spotlight where I’ll spotlight five of my favorite women comic characters.

At Comics Crux, I’m writing a Journey Into Manga and Anime Column which is geared towards those who are interested in getting into Manga and Anime as well as those like myself who have been out of the loop for a while but want to jump back in. I need you to send me your anime/manga artwork, AMV’s (Anime Music Videos), and anime/manga cosplay pics for me to pick my favorites and feature in my column each week. Email me taliadina@gmail.com. Comics Crux’s site launches in September but they’re on Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, Pinterest, and Google+

Necrocalia is coming along slowly but surely. I wrote a six page origin story for one of the main characters and Steve’s working on the illustrations. So look for that soon! I’m also working on something secret for Necrocalia just keep your fingers crossed!

As always check out my Comicmanaics column on the Fanboy Buzz,  there will be more webcomic/comic spotlights and interviews with indie creators to come soon on Why Not Indie’s site as well.

I also do music album reviews and related articles over at Toonari Post too.

That’s all for now. More to come soon!

A Member of the Press

Evening folks! Here’s another update for ya!

Well I’m a member of the press. I’m a contributor for WhyNotIndie.com, Fanboybuzz.com and Toonari Post (which I will be writing articles soon).

I don’t get paid but that’s fine because I get to attend cons for free (I just have to pay for travel expenses), I get to read comics for free (especially if they’re comics that haven’t been yet), and I get to improve my writing. So that’s great for me.

I have my own column on Fanboybuzz.com entitled Comicmaniacs (http://www.fanboybuzz.com/category/columns/comicmaniacs/). In my column I do Classic Comic Review and Comicmanaic Spotlight so check it out.

I’m still working on my comic book ideas. I’ve created three blogs for three out of the seven of my ideas here on Tumblr so please check them out. Here are the links:

Defect:

http://myskateboardismymjolnir.tumblr.com/

Tzedek:

http://tzedekcomic.tumblr.com/

Necrocalia:

http://necrocalia.tumblr.com/

In the future I hope that I can get these three ideas published and into stores. I’m looking for an artist or artists for these ideas! So far, Defect had a 4 page story published in Womanthology: Heroic so check that out! Tzedek will have a 3 page story published in The Gathering Comic in April 2013.

Alright so that’s what’s been going on. I hope I can attend some more cons in the future. I also need to make business cards. I’m on a budget so any ideas?

Okay that’s all for now!

Later!

Awesome review of @Womanthology!

My story’s mentioned in the review! Thank you very much!

Update!

Hey guys!

I’m working on my character ideas and I’m going to submit one of my ideas to a publisher.

Also as of today I’m officially a new contributor to FanboyBuzz.com! I’m so excited!

And I got my Womanthology book today! So yes a great Saturday! Alright laters!

Womanthology Book Signing, Necrocalia, and other updates

Hello all! Happy Thorsday and I wanted to welcome new followers to the blog! Well I haven’t written any updates in a while, so here we go!

Womanthology Book Signing!

This Saturday (which also happens to be the first day of Pesach (Passover) and my 30th birthday) at Acme Superstore (http://www.acme-superstore.com/)  in Longwood, FL at 1pm, @RachelPandich, @JenMercerArt, and I will be signing Womanthology books. So if you’re in the area please stop by and support this amazing book!

Necrocalia:

This is one of my projects that I hope to be published in the future (hopefully near future). Right now I’m working on back story/outline for it. So far so good, it’s really fun trying to create new worlds, alien races, zombie apocalypse, etc.  It’s sci-fi and horror.

I’m also looking for an artist for this project, if you’re interested please contact me taliadina@gmail.com and let me know how much you charge. So here’s the tagline:

Two female super soldiers who are genetically bio-engineered alien-monster-humanoid hybrids must protect what’s left of the living from the zombie apocalypse that’s ravaging the Adayo galaxy by the harbinger of death known only as Necrocalia.

I could see Necrocalia being a webcomic and a comic book series and graphic novel.

Other updates:

I finish writing my three page script for The Gathering Comic and I sent it off to the  editor.  This story will be debuting Tzedek and will be out April 2013!

Speaking of The Gathering, they’ve opened submissions (http://www.grayhavencomics.com/submit/) again for writers and artists so if you want to get your story out there, submit!

Third’s time the charm as I have submitted my three page story for reviewing. Hopefully things will go better this time.

I’m still writing for WhyNotIndie.com you can check out my latest articles there as well as those of my fellow WNI contributors! This is a great site dedicated to creator-owned comics and I’m very grateful to be writing for them!

Yes so those are the updates. I hope you all have an excellent week! Happy Pesach (Passover), Happy Easter! Happy Birthday to everyone who shares a birthday on April 7th-Jackie Chan, @Jody_Houser  and those who have a birthday this week and the rest of the month of April!

I’ll catch you on the flip side!

Wrap Up: Research, Tzedek, Comic Book Treatment, MegaCon & Womanthology

My research is coming along great. I have a few ideas for my project and it’s interesting how a few of my ideas are similar to what the people I’m researching actually did. So that’s going well.

I wrote page 12 out of 22 for my Tzedek rewrite. I’m actually thinking that this page should be towards at the end of the story. Next month (the 17th) I’ll find out how bad I did when the first 11 pages get reviewed.

I’m also looking for some proposal/treatment examples to help me in writing my comic book treatment/proposals. I found one that B. Claymore did. So far it’s been helpful. If anyone knows some sites that give good tips and examples let me know.

Speaking of next month, I’ll be attending MegaCon! It’s been a few years since I’ve been to MegaCon. I’ve been twice before only on Sunday and not for the whole day. It was fun but I didn’t attend any panels, I just walked around with my sister and we bought a few things, but I digress.

I’m going for two out of the three days this year! Saturday and Sunday. I’m going to be on the Womanthology Panel with some of the women of Womanthology: Heather Royston, Barbara Kesel, Jennifer Mercer, Kate Carleton, Sherri Rose, and Rachel Pandich!

Stan Lee’s also gonna be there!

The first day I’m gonna be dressed as Wonder Woman. It’s not the exact costume, it’s actually an outfit that I put together-since I can’t sew or afford the costume. I tried it on tonight and it fits and looks great and comfortable so I’m happy. I wanted to dress up as Lady Deadpool…maybe next year.

That’s what’s going on, besides reading comics-Wonder Woman, The Punisher, Deadpool, Journey Into Mystery, and Batwing-working, and sleeping.

11 Pages and @Womanthology Holiday PDF!

So if you haven’t been following my posts then you probally don’t know about how I wrote my first ten page comic for Tzedek and I submitted it for review and the review was horrible. I at first felt hurt personally and it ruined my day…it took me a few days to get over (well it still stings a little) and after a second review by one of my fellow Womanthology writers I felt much better and vowed not to give up and also to rewrite the script.

Well a few months have past since then and much as gone on-I’m working and writing and finally I’ve rewritten the script. It’s 11 pages so far but I hope to make this a 22 page story (my second and hopefully better than the first 22 page story I wrote).

So I’ll be sending it in for review and hopefully this review will go much better than the first. I feel that this a better script and I hope that it’s not horrible. I’ll be putting it up tomorrow. I need to spell check it first. My Word’s spell check isn’t working so I need to find a spell check program that’s free to use forever and free to download anyone have any suggestions?

Finally today the Womanthology Holiday PDF was released to all the backers who’ve supported the project! I hope you all enjoy it and I want to thank Miss Brenda Kirk @brainconfetti & @Geektress for being my artist on the one page story! Also to the backers Thank You!

I will wish all of you Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanza, Happy New Year, Happy Three Kings Day and Happy Holidays!

Re-Write & Some Progress

My comic for @Womanthology’s Holiday PDF is finished! It looks awesome! Thanks again to Brenda Kirk who was my artist she did an excellent job!

Now I’m working on re-writing my Tzedek story that I did a few months back and I had it reviewed by two people and both had great advice (one was my fellow Womanthology writer Rachel Pandich) to give me and I hope that I learned from it.

I know it’s been a while since I’ve worked on Tzedek but I’ve been busy doing some research and working at my job at the library. But I haven’t forgotten about it.

Last week I also published the first @Comicmaniacs Magazine so check that out it’s on the Tumblr page. I think that if I write everyday it’ll definitely improve my writing.

So that’s what’s up for now. I’m on page four for Tzedek. I don’t know how long this story will be but it’s gotta be at least eight pages.

Alright later!

Dec 2

I’m in need of an artist for @Womanthology

So I have a challenge to write a one page comic for Womanthology’s project. I’m excited and a little stressed but I know I can do it. It’ll be due next week so I have to get started.

I’m in need of an artist, I’ve asked my Womanthology artist if she could do it but alas she has an important deadline to meet. So who would like to work with me?

I would like to do a Hanukkah theme and that’s all I’ve got for right now…good thing I did the #30Characters challenge..

I do have a backup if I can’t get an artist-I’ll write a poem.

Alright that’s all for now…
