An Early Morning Update…

Hey I have been busy. Life’s been busy but at the same time I don’t feel that I’ve accomplish much in certain areas of my life have you all felt that way?

Anyways some news:

I’m an Assistant Editor for a small indie comic book publisher Affinity Press. I’m also a new contributor to Nerd Shuttle and I’m taking a break from contributing to Talkingcomics.com.

I’m also working on submitting my first novel titled I, Darcy. That’s right the same I, Darcy that I posted two excerpts here on this page a while ago. I turned those two into pieces of my novel. I’m going to submit the novel to Chromatic Press who are open for submissions! They’re looking for comic books, prose, audio, and illustrators. You can check out the submission requirements.

Now let’s not get crazy here, my novel is a short one-4 chapters and a prologue and epilogue. Maybe one day I’ll write a longer one but since this is a first for me I’m doing a short one.  I’ve always written small short stories (I never finish most of them), poetry, and comic book scripts that were at least 4 pages in length.  I’ve never had the patience to write long stuff.

So this is a challenge for me to write a novel. So far it’s going well. I finished the outline (which I had been freaking out about) I’ve written the prologue, the first chapter and started chapter two. I’m almost ready to submit the story (it doesn’t have to be finished), so wish me luck.

I also think that I, Darcy could be a comic book but we’ll see.

Besides this I’ve been reading I started reading Octavia Butler’s Lilith’s Brood Trilogy series with the first book Dawn. So far it’s great! I’m nearly done with it too.

I’ve also been listening to and find great music particular punk, rock, bands and artists. I watched two documentaries which you guys should watch: AFROPUNK the Documentary and American Hardcore (which also has a book that the documentary was derived from).

I’m slowly making transitions so look for more to come from me in the future.

Alright this has been your early morning update!

See you later my fellow writers!

Womanthology Book Signing, Necrocalia, and other updates

Hello all! Happy Thorsday and I wanted to welcome new followers to the blog! Well I haven’t written any updates in a while, so here we go!

Womanthology Book Signing!

This Saturday (which also happens to be the first day of Pesach (Passover) and my 30th birthday) at Acme Superstore (http://www.acme-superstore.com/)  in Longwood, FL at 1pm, @RachelPandich, @JenMercerArt, and I will be signing Womanthology books. So if you’re in the area please stop by and support this amazing book!

Necrocalia:

This is one of my projects that I hope to be published in the future (hopefully near future). Right now I’m working on back story/outline for it. So far so good, it’s really fun trying to create new worlds, alien races, zombie apocalypse, etc.  It’s sci-fi and horror.

I’m also looking for an artist for this project, if you’re interested please contact me taliadina@gmail.com and let me know how much you charge. So here’s the tagline:

Two female super soldiers who are genetically bio-engineered alien-monster-humanoid hybrids must protect what’s left of the living from the zombie apocalypse that’s ravaging the Adayo galaxy by the harbinger of death known only as Necrocalia.

I could see Necrocalia being a webcomic and a comic book series and graphic novel.

Other updates:

I finish writing my three page script for The Gathering Comic and I sent it off to the  editor.  This story will be debuting Tzedek and will be out April 2013!

Speaking of The Gathering, they’ve opened submissions (http://www.grayhavencomics.com/submit/) again for writers and artists so if you want to get your story out there, submit!

Third’s time the charm as I have submitted my three page story for reviewing. Hopefully things will go better this time.

I’m still writing for WhyNotIndie.com you can check out my latest articles there as well as those of my fellow WNI contributors! This is a great site dedicated to creator-owned comics and I’m very grateful to be writing for them!

Yes so those are the updates. I hope you all have an excellent week! Happy Pesach (Passover), Happy Easter! Happy Birthday to everyone who shares a birthday on April 7th-Jackie Chan, @Jody_Houser  and those who have a birthday this week and the rest of the month of April!

I’ll catch you on the flip side!

The evolution of my tagline

Last night on Twitter, a certain retweet caught my eye. It was about how The Gathering was accepting submissions for it’s upcoming anthologies (you too can submit here: http://www.grayhavencomics.com/submit/).  Since last night I’ve been working on an idea for a potential story and finally I have a tagline. I’ve been rewriting it and rewriting it and below you can see my progress the evolution of it all. Tell me what you think I’m open to constructive criticism and I would love any tips and links to help me and my fellow writers out there to improve their tagline skills. So without further ado, I present to you the evolution of my tagline:

Tzedek

“The Forgotten Ones”

Tagline:

While taking down a small human trafficking ring, Tzedek discovers a group of missing persons whom the public had forgotten. Among them is a young woman who received little media coverage and the police had stopped looking for her after being missing for over a month.

An anti-hero searches for and finds a missing woman whom the police gave up looking for and received no media coverage while taking down a human trafficking ring and discovers other missing persons who’ve been forgotten by the public.

Missing for more than a month, receiving no media coverage, and the police having brought their search to a halt, a young woman’s hope of being found alive rests on the shoulders of the anti-hero Tzedek who during a take down of a human trafficking ring finds her among a group of missing persons whom the public have forgotten.

Final tagline:

As a result of the police bringing their search to a halt and having received very little coverage in the media, the family of a young woman who’s been missing for more than a month only hope of finding their relative alive lies in Tzedek an anti-heroine who’s dedicated to riding the Orlando area of human traffickers.  While taking down a trafficking ring she manages to find the young woman along with a many other missing persons whose names have long been forgotten in the eyes and ears of the public.
