It’s been a while huh?

Happy New Year Everyone! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted here-last year was hetic. But I’m back and I’m refreshed.

A few things to announce:

Necrocalia: The Origin of Dh’Shatanog is still being worked on. The pages are all pencilled next step is inking and lettering. So soon it’ll be ready to be published.

I submitted 3 stories last year to Grayhaven Comics and they’ll be published this year in the All Women’s 2 (Willehmina: King of Thieves), War (Zuhura), and Crime (Tzedek) volumes!  So look for those anthologies!

Grayhaven is looking for submissions for 2014 now so visit their site.

I have a new interview up on my Comicmaniacs Column it’s with the @BlackTribbles so check that out.

Last year I got bogged down and I lost my love of writing but I still have it and I’m recharged and ready to go.

What to look forward to: A Writing Update

I’ve been a busy bee writing and it’s coming along slowly but surely. I do have some updates and things that you all can look forward to:

This Saturday July 14th at 10 am: Womanthology Signing at the Acme Superstore on 434 in Longwood, FL.

Next week July 16th-20th Talking Comics  will have a Woman in Comics Week. Everyday I’ll post an interview with a lady in comics. I’ll have an interview from Nicole Sixx and four other ladies! I’ll also be posting each day a Character Spotlight where I’ll spotlight five of my favorite women comic characters.

At Comics Crux, I’m writing a Journey Into Manga and Anime Column which is geared towards those who are interested in getting into Manga and Anime as well as those like myself who have been out of the loop for a while but want to jump back in. I need you to send me your anime/manga artwork, AMV’s (Anime Music Videos), and anime/manga cosplay pics for me to pick my favorites and feature in my column each week. Email me taliadina@gmail.com. Comics Crux’s site launches in September but they’re on Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, Pinterest, and Google+

Necrocalia is coming along slowly but surely. I wrote a six page origin story for one of the main characters and Steve’s working on the illustrations. So look for that soon! I’m also working on something secret for Necrocalia just keep your fingers crossed!

As always check out my Comicmanaics column on the Fanboy Buzz,  there will be more webcomic/comic spotlights and interviews with indie creators to come soon on Why Not Indie’s site as well.

I also do music album reviews and related articles over at Toonari Post too.

That’s all for now. More to come soon!

A new Right Place at the Write Time #7 – The Best Worst Advice by @westonlocher

A Member of the Press

Evening folks! Here’s another update for ya!

Well I’m a member of the press. I’m a contributor for WhyNotIndie.com, Fanboybuzz.com and Toonari Post (which I will be writing articles soon).

I don’t get paid but that’s fine because I get to attend cons for free (I just have to pay for travel expenses), I get to read comics for free (especially if they’re comics that haven’t been yet), and I get to improve my writing. So that’s great for me.

I have my own column on Fanboybuzz.com entitled Comicmaniacs (http://www.fanboybuzz.com/category/columns/comicmaniacs/). In my column I do Classic Comic Review and Comicmanaic Spotlight so check it out.

I’m still working on my comic book ideas. I’ve created three blogs for three out of the seven of my ideas here on Tumblr so please check them out. Here are the links:

Defect:

Tzedek:

http://tzedekcomic.tumblr.com/

Necrocalia:

http://necrocalia.tumblr.com/

In the future I hope that I can get these three ideas published and into stores. I’m looking for an artist or artists for these ideas! So far, Defect had a 4 page story published in Womanthology: Heroic so check that out! Tzedek will have a 3 page story published in The Gathering Comic in April 2013.

Alright so that’s what’s been going on. I hope I can attend some more cons in the future. I also need to make business cards. I’m on a budget so any ideas?

Okay that’s all for now!

Later!

Yesterday I organized all my writing stuff and put it in this notebook-it’s full of my writing, ideas, and research info.

Today I got my Womanthology book from Fedex! WOOOT!

You can see my story: Defect (a guy at the Womathology signing last Saturday said that my character Defect reminded him of Static Shock due to her look! My thanks to Kelly Turnbull for drawing Defect!)!

The evolution of my tagline

Last night on Twitter, a certain retweet caught my eye. It was about how The Gathering was accepting submissions for it’s upcoming anthologies (you too can submit here: http://www.grayhavencomics.com/submit/).  Since last night I’ve been working on an idea for a potential story and finally I have a tagline. I’ve been rewriting it and rewriting it and below you can see my progress the evolution of it all. Tell me what you think I’m open to constructive criticism and I would love any tips and links to help me and my fellow writers out there to improve their tagline skills. So without further ado, I present to you the evolution of my tagline:

Tzedek

“The Forgotten Ones”

Tagline:

While taking down a small human trafficking ring, Tzedek discovers a group of missing persons whom the public had forgotten. Among them is a young woman who received little media coverage and the police had stopped looking for her after being missing for over a month.

An anti-hero searches for and finds a missing woman whom the police gave up looking for and received no media coverage while taking down a human trafficking ring and discovers other missing persons who’ve been forgotten by the public.

Missing for more than a month, receiving no media coverage, and the police having brought their search to a halt, a young woman’s hope of being found alive rests on the shoulders of the anti-hero Tzedek who during a take down of a human trafficking ring finds her among a group of missing persons whom the public have forgotten.

Final tagline:

As a result of the police bringing their search to a halt and having received very little coverage in the media, the family of a young woman who’s been missing for more than a month only hope of finding their relative alive lies in Tzedek an anti-heroine who’s dedicated to riding the Orlando area of human traffickers.  While taking down a trafficking ring she manages to find the young woman along with a many other missing persons whose names have long been forgotten in the eyes and ears of the public.

Pull List (Poem by Me)

As I begin my journey into mystery  I find a deadpool of zombie criminals craving to devour the punisher of their souls.

Moving on, I end up in the middle of a fight between a teenage mutant ninja turtle who’s striking with his bow a Batwing.

Finally, I end up back in Dahomey training amongst the amazons and I meet a real Wonder Woman.

Wrap Up: Research, Tzedek, Comic Book Treatment, MegaCon & Womanthology

My research is coming along great. I have a few ideas for my project and it’s interesting how a few of my ideas are similar to what the people I’m researching actually did. So that’s going well.

I wrote page 12 out of 22 for my Tzedek rewrite. I’m actually thinking that this page should be towards at the end of the story. Next month (the 17th) I’ll find out how bad I did when the first 11 pages get reviewed.

I’m also looking for some proposal/treatment examples to help me in writing my comic book treatment/proposals. I found one that B. Claymore did. So far it’s been helpful. If anyone knows some sites that give good tips and examples let me know.

Speaking of next month, I’ll be attending MegaCon! It’s been a few years since I’ve been to MegaCon. I’ve been twice before only on Sunday and not for the whole day. It was fun but I didn’t attend any panels, I just walked around with my sister and we bought a few things, but I digress.

I’m going for two out of the three days this year! Saturday and Sunday. I’m going to be on the Womanthology Panel with some of the women of Womanthology: Heather Royston, Barbara Kesel, Jennifer Mercer, Kate Carleton, Sherri Rose, and Rachel Pandich!

Stan Lee’s also gonna be there!

The first day I’m gonna be dressed as Wonder Woman. It’s not the exact costume, it’s actually an outfit that I put together-since I can’t sew or afford the costume. I tried it on tonight and it fits and looks great and comfortable so I’m happy. I wanted to dress up as Lady Deadpool…maybe next year.

That’s what’s going on, besides reading comics-Wonder Woman, The Punisher, Deadpool, Journey Into Mystery, and Batwing-working, and sleeping.
